~
Plunge into nature’s spellbinding creativity at the Hikkaduwa Coral Reef Sanctuary; Sri Lanka’s first Marine National Park. Snorkel amidst vibrant corals, swim with turtles, luminescent fish, and reef sharks or simply observe the beauty through glass-bottomed boats.
The reefs at Hikkaduwa are the most diverse and accessible. Around 60 species of hard coral fish and over 170 species of reef fish have been recorded. Large stands of cabbage-like Montipora corals and small stands of branching Acropora corals can be found, along with boulder and encrusting corals. Don’t forget to spot the luminescent reef fish such as Angel, Butterfly, and Parrotfish.
A few large turtles have also made the reef their home. Chances are, you might end up swimming with a 5 ft. large turtle! The underwater wonders of Hikkaduwa never fail to stun you!
