Our enthusiastic naturalist will help you spot a host of diverse birds and amphibians. The river is home to three species of cormorants, sea and serpent eagles, brahmani kite, egrets, lapwings, water hens, herons, and the biggest kingfisher in Sri Lanka. You might even spot the Asian Bird of Paradise. About 5 different species of water monitor lizards also live in this river. At the periphery of the forest that lines the river, you might find water buffaloes, porcupines, tortoises and even wild boars.
One of the popular sights of the upstream safari is the bridge where a scene from ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’ was shot. This river flows like a dream surrounded by hills, with mist rising from its surface in the morning.
