Koneswaram Kovil – Trinco Blu ~
On your marine adventure into the deep blue sea, you’ll pass by a massive headland, perched atop with a mighty statue of Lord Shiva, overlooking and blessing the natural harbour.
This statue is housed by the Koneswaram Temple, which is a classical-medieval complex in the Eastern Province city of Trincomalee. The original temple is claimed by some to have been the greatest building of its age, for both its architecture and its ornamentation. Remnants of the same were found by photographer Mike Wilson and science-fiction author, Arthur C Clarke in 1956. Even though it has lost most of its grandeur and original glory, it’s still an awe-inspiring place with breathtaking views.
