A New Chapter in Sustainability Blooms at Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives with the Launch of Its ECO Park
A walk through Cinnamon Velifushi Maldives now begins not only with sweeping ocean views and warm island hospitality, but with a seedling of inspiration. The newly launched ECO Park at the resort offers an immersive window into sustainability in action, inviting guests to witness how thoughtful choices and conscious initiatives can nurture a more responsible tomorrow.
As part of Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing ESG commitments in the Maldives, the ECO Park was established to serve both an operational and educational purpose. The newly built administration office within the park coordinates eco-driven initiatives across the resort, while the surrounding grounds are home to more than 250 plants sourced from India and Sri Lanka. Together, they form a living, breathing space designed to transform every visitor from a passive observer into an active participant in the planet’s wellbeing.
Guests were invited to take part in a tree-planting initiative, leaving their mark within the growing nursery, a space set to evolve into a vibrant butterfly garden in the near future. The experience also provided insight into the resort’s waste management systems, including visits to the on-site incinerator and organic waste digester, both of which support the resort’s broader sustainability framework and reduce environmental impact.
The journey through the ECO Park naturally extends to the resort’s organic garden, where island-grown produce finds its way to guests’ tables. This connection between cultivation and cuisine reinforces how responsible practices can seamlessly integrate with comfort, flavour, and elevated hospitality.
