Cinnamon Lodge Habarana - Last light of Ritigala
As the afternoon softens over the Cultural Triangle, a small group sets out from Cinnamon Lodge Habarana for Ritigala, the forested mountain that rises out of the surrounding plains. Long held sacred, Ritigala is home to the remains of an ancient forest monastery and to legends that local guides still tell today.
Led by a Cinnamon Nature Trails naturalist and a local site guide, you walk a designated trail through the forest as the light changes. Along the way you hear the stories, spiritual significance and heritage of the site, and learn about the plants, birds and wildlife that share it. The walk is unhurried and kept quiet, in keeping with the place.
As the sun goes down, the trail ends at a private setting for high tea with a local twist, created by our kitchen team and served as the last light fades.

- The experience runs once daily and depends on the weather. If conditions are unsafe, the session may be rescheduled or cancelled.
- Minimum 2 and maximum 6 guests per session. Guests must be aged 10 to 65 years.
- The trail includes uneven and rocky ground. Closed walking shoes are recommended, and the experience may not suit guests with limited mobility.
- Guests stay together on the designated route and follow the naturalist and site guide at all times, including the silence policy and respect for wildlife.
- Modest clothing is recommended at the heritage site.
- Please share dietary requirements and food allergies at the time of booking.
- Start time moves with the season to match sunset.
- Cancellation, late arrival and no-show policy:
- Cancellation: Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the start time are fully refunded. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are charged at 100%.
- Late arrival: The experience starts on time. Arrivals more than 30 minutes late are treated as a no-show.
- No-show: 100% charge.
- Weather cancellation: Cancellations due to weather are fully refunded.
Prices
Rates are inclusive of all government taxes and the service charge. Children aged 6 to 11 pay half the quoted rate, children under 6 join free of charge, and guests aged 12 and above pay in full.
